Situation
The National Minority Supplier Development Council launched the Capital Readiness Program to move member firms from interest in federal contracting to actual pursuit and award. Most participating firms had registered in federal systems and attended introductory sessions, but very few had converted that activity into submitted proposals or awarded work. The gap was not motivation. It was the absence of a structured pursuit process and the practical infrastructure required to compete.
Task
nDemand was engaged to lead the government contracting track of the program. The mandate was to take a cohort of member firms through the full federal pursuit lifecycle within a compressed window and to produce measurable contract outcomes rather than completed coursework.
Approach
We built the track around execution rather than instruction. Firms worked through opportunity identification and qualification, pipeline and forecast development, decision maker and relationship mapping, capture planning, and compliant proposal development. Every session was structured so participants left with a completed artifact applied to a live opportunity in their own pipeline, including capability statements positioned for specific buyers, compliance matrices built against real solicitations, and pursuit trackers that continued in use after the cohort closed. Sessions were sequenced so that foundational structure came before pipeline activity, which is the ordering most readiness programming reverses.
Result
Participating firms generated $7.9 million in awarded contracts within the first four months of the cohort, documented with NMSDC. The result demonstrated that when readiness work is sequenced correctly and tied to live opportunities rather than hypothetical ones, contract awards follow inside a single program cycle rather than several years out.
